checks run every few minutes, and every visit to this page runs one too. honest small print: this board lives on the same server it watches, so a truly dark day shows up as “no checks recorded” rather than a red bar.
those bars count how many checks failed, not how much it mattered. that second question is what the headline answers: the venue, the vault and the broadcast are what a ceremony in progress actually needs, so one of them going dark reads OFF AIR and wakes someone up. the box office, the mailroom, the press room and the archive can go dark without stopping a show, so they read DARK and wait for morning.
